#tarotthursdaythree 1/26/2017

It’s time for #tarotthursdaythree! This writing challenge/invitation is hosted by Julia of SpiralSeaTarot.com. The questions for this day were provided by Vanessa, check out her post here.

1. What was your first time like giving an in-person reading? Where were you? How did you feel? Spill the deets!

The first time I gave an in-person reading was to my hubby, and I had just started reading so I was using the guidebook more than my intuition. It was not so bad because well he’s my husband. I have never read in-person for a “client”, although I have started doing readings via audio recordings. I do hope to one day read in-person. I imagine I will be very nervous for a while, until I get comfortable. I think it’s a completely different experience and dynamic, so I do look forward to doing that in the future.

2. Have you ever had a negative client response to one of your readings? How did they react and why? How did you respond back?

I’ve never had a negative response… but I have had no response at all, which kind of feels like a negative response. If I had a negative response I would probably apologize, maybe refund if they asked for a refund. Then I might even reconsider reading for others :(, which means I need to prepare for a negative response and I look forward to reading how others handle them.

3. Have you ever been challenged by a skeptic regarding tarot? What was your experience like?

I have talked to many people who are skeptics about tarot, and people who think that card reading is evil. Anytime I talk to someone about card reading I tell them that  I don’t do fortune telling, so I don’t read the future. I explain to them that the cards have archetypes and themes that can help provide guidance about situations in our lives. I’ve never met anyone who openly challenged me, most people, if they disagree, they don’t bring it up any more and neither do I.

  1. Oh I hope you won’t reconsider reading for others if you do get some less than positive feedback! No matter what you do, create or provide in the way of a product or service, you can’t please everyone! As long as the majority is positive and you feel good about what you do, that’s all that matters. I’m sure you’d do great reading in person but yes, it can be nerve racking 🙂

Thank you Julia, I might have exagerated when putting myself in the situation, after reading other’s posts I felt more confident and I would probably not stop reading, and would do something to make it better, like a refund. Thank for your encouragement!

  2. Dianna, you’re so brave making audio recordings! I hate listening to the sound of my own voice ahaha.

And I feel you. Not receiving a client response can kind of throw me for a loop, too.. did they forget / are they upset / did they not receive my email?? It does worry me a bit, but think if we were meant to connect we would.

Hi Vanessa, you should try audio recording! Expecially if it feels uncomfortable, I used to be so shy, I would have never thought that I would be able to record my voice, or myself and put a video on YouTube, and now I have and it was so much fun 💜. That’s a good way to look at why a client might not give any feedback. Thank you!

  3. I love that audio idea…..!

And nooooo if you ever have a bad experience, don’t stop reading for others!!!!! noooo!!!!

hehe and yes you’re husband must like your readings no matter what amiright?! 😛

Haha yes 😊, which reminds me it’s yime to read for him again hehe.

Thank you, I probably would not stop reading completely, and I hope when a negative response comes my way I use it to become a better reader!

  4. I wholeheartedly support Alaina’s statement – don’t stop reading just because you get one negative response! (Though I can certainly understand the impulse!)

Thank you Olivia! Putting myself in that situation made me think I might reconsider my readings, but hopefully when it happens, because it probably will happen no matter what, I will be able to learn from it and move on.

  5. I can’t believe someone didn’t reply, to me that says more about their character than your reading so don’t even think about reconsidering doing readings.
Believe me you are alot braver than you think, audio recordings takes guts I should know😉

Thank you Amanda, everyone agrees with you that I shouldn’t stop reading after negative feedback, and I agree too, I’ll use them to become better. I’m so glad we took a leap to do audio recordings for each other! Next up, a Skype call…maybe in a few month 🙂.
